The Role of Musical Education in Developing
                                  Human Personality
Learning music and singing, or the proper development of the right hemisphere as
such, also has its critical period. Absolute hearing can only be formed before the age
of eight. Musically, the sensitive learning period of the right hemisphere’s temporal
lobe is between the ages of 8 and 11. Music or musical lore one can hear in these
years might be set in the mind forever. These periods can, of course be lengthened
              – by decades even – if in the few-year-long learning period the child has proper
              musical training and/or musical studies.

                                      Dr. Ilona Barkóczi

                             The Psychological Effect Study
of the Kodály Music Education Method
The results showed that in the field of creativity music school classes surpassed
their control groups from non-music classes from the second elementary year, which
meant that from that time on their thinking became more flexible. The structure of
their intellect changed in so far as their verbal and non-verbal partial skills were
more balanced. We considered it a great success that in our class of music formed
by pupils from disadvantageous social backgrounds there were significantly fewer
children full of inhibitions while doing the exercises than in their non-musical
control groups made up by pupils from the same background.
