                                  (The Kovács Method)

The Kovács method as a new branch of music pedagogy is at once a lifestyle, a work-
out and at the same time a body of factual knowledge.
The origins of the Kovács method are linked with Zoltán Kodály, a member of the
committee which in concert with the heads of The Music Academy in the late 1950s
invited Dr. Géza Kovács, the research fellow of The Hungarian College of Physi-
cal Education, to carry out research on the occupational hazards frequent among
musicians and to work out preventive methods. Dr. Géza Kovács earned several
highly commended state awards for his scholarly achievements.
